Dior Lady Art returns to Malaysia for the 8th edition
Twelve artists from around the globe reimage the iconic Lady Dior bag.
In the ever-changing world of fashion, where trends come and go in the blink of an eye, there are creations that endure beyond passing seasons. The Lady Dior bag is one such icon.
Dior first introduced the top-handled bag in 1994, lovingly called it“ Chouchou”, a term of endearment in French. Destined to be an icon, the bag found its way onto Lady Diana’s arm a year later as a gift from France’s former First Lady Bernadette Chirac during her Parisian visit—and the rest is history.
In 1996, Dior officially named the design “Lady Dior” in honour of Lady Diana, who loved the cannage-quilted bag and rarely parted with it during her public appearances. From its architectural silhouette to geometric stitching and alphabet charms, Lady Dior embodies Dior’s artistry and has inspired many of the House’s modern icons, including the Dior Caro, Dior Vibe the Lady D-Lite.
To further Lady Dior’s legacy of art empowerment, Dior and creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri initiated the annual Dior Lady Art project. For its eighth edition, Dior continues the tradition and invites twelve artists from around the globe to express their culture and identity by reimagining Lady Dior bags into wearable objects of art.
