6 trends to look out for from the Men's Fall/Winter 2023 shows
From brown leather jackets to jumpsuits and plaids, here's what to cop this 2023.
Men's Fashion Week in Paris and Milan have concluded for the Fall/Winter 2023 season with luxury labels such as Givenchy, Prada, Gucci, Fendi, Louis Vuitton, Dior, and Saint Laurent having presented their collections.
This season, designers have tackled our wardrobes with surprising flairs such as unexpected silhouettes, fun colour combinations, and unique proportions. Below, L'OFFICIEL rounds up the top menswear fashion trends from the Fall/Winter 2023 runways.
Plaid
These aren't your typical plaid pyjamas. Plaid first made its appearance during the Spring/Summer 2023 womenswear season on the Bottega Veneta runway, and designers are clearly claiming the trend for menswear this time.
Brands such as Etro and Gucci have already had plaid implemented into their collections, with other labels sure to follow suit.
Cardigans
Knitwear has become a go-to for the FW2023 mood board, though its taking shape in the form of cardigans is an unexpected twist. And yet, brands like Armani and Prada have deemed cardigans as the must-have fall essential.
To ensure the look maintains a contemporary edge, the cardigans have been crafted the subtle updates such as a dropped shoulder or oversized and looser fitting.
Double Breasted Blazers
Would it even be menswear if there were no blazers?
Designers are mixing it up with the garment by unveiling double-breasted blazers—as seen from the likes of Armani, Fendi, and Saint Laurent. While the updated look provides a fresh take on the item, blazers still remain a menswear wardrobe staple that can be styled with nearly any outfit.
Brown Leather Jacket
This season, men are switching out the staple black leather jacket for a brown one instead. With the motorcar aesthetic in full throttle, the trend has come at perfect timing.
Of course, this isn't your everyday brown leather jacket as labels have played around with interesting embellishments and unique textures.
Jumpsuits
Harry Styles pushed hard for statement jumpsuits for most of 2022, and brands have certainly taken note of it. From a floor-skimming number by Etro to a bold-hued and billowing fit from Gucci, jumpsuits are set to be all the rage for the Fall/Winter 2023 season.
Faux Fur/Shearling
Both a stylish and practical trend for the season, faux fur is here to take over the menswear market. Armani presented the look as a fluffed maxi coat, Etro's faux fur number was a matching set, and Gucci layered its bold patterned shearling jacket over a basic white tank.
From the number of designers who have already made a case on why faux fur/shearling is here to stay, it would be surprising to see it not make other appearances throughout fashion month.
