Bag Anatomy: The Kattie bag by Chloé
Chloé’s newest bag line manifests craftsmanship and sustainability.
Gabriela Hearst staged her first Chloé runway show for Spring/Summer 2022 at Paris’ Quai de la Tournelle—where better to present a collection that is “all about love” than the bank of River Seine.
Dedicated to a world that’s in great need of a glimpse of light at the end of the pandemic tunnel, the collection is a healing sartorial getaway with the brand’s free spirit being threaded airily through the collection.
The silhouettes are laid-back with a craft accent being played across the ensembles, adorned with metal talismans and naturally sourced gemstones in possession of wellness properties.
On the accessories end, Chloé enlisted the help of collaborators to reiterate its commitment to a better planet. The Kattie bag, for one, was created in collaboration with Leather Working Group (LWG) certified tanneries, using only sustainable leather with minimal ecological footprint.
Its design is an interplay between tenderness and power, and the bag’s clean and structured profile is softened by shiny calfskin with a half-transparent finish.
Meanwhile, a bracelet handle made from Chloé’s signature materials—brass, wood and leather—adds versatility in styling options. The debut of the Kattie bag line comes with a selection of neutral and sun-kissed colourways: amber olive, burning caramel, rusted orange, black, sepia brown, ebony brown and soft tan.
