RUBA ABU-NIMAH &amp; NATHALIE VERDEILLE (TIFFANY &amp; CO.)

Reinvention is imminent following the multi-billion dollar, roller-coaster ride of an acquisition of Tiffany &amp; Co. by French conglomerate LVMH late last year and the American jewellery house has found just the visionaries to spearhead it. Ruba Abu-Nimah&rsquo;s appointment as creative director has unlocked a new window of possibilities for Tiffany especially given the fact that she&rsquo;s largely known for her work and influence in the realm of beauty.

Abu-Nimah, however, will not be taking the lead in product design or development. She is instead expected to utilise her know-how of New York&rsquo;s independent scene to drive the creative vision at Tiffany. Nathalie Verdeille, on the other hand, is poised to take on that responsibility in her role as the vice president, artistic director of jewellery and high jewellery. She is set to marshal the design team and ensure flawless design innovation.

With the arrival of these industry mavens, Tiffany &amp; Co. is turning over a new leaf in its approach to jewellery making and marketing&mdash;it&rsquo;s already reflected in its recent endeavours. From the launch of the polarising yet brilliantly effective Not Your Mother&rsquo;s Tiffany campaign to the enlisting of household names like Beyonc&eacute; and rising stars like Anya Taylor-Joy as brand ambassadors, the new Tiffany knows exactly what it wants and isn&rsquo;t afraid to go after it.

EHSSAN MOAZEN (CHAUMET)

Chaumet is heading in a new direction and it&rsquo;s the future. The interactive &ldquo;Crown Your Stories&rdquo; social media filter that was introduced sometime last year, for one, has the jewellery house reaping the reward ad infinitum by significantly boosting the brand&rsquo;s online engagement as well as offline business with an impressive turnout recorded at its flagship boutiques. The initiative addresses fast-changing consumer behaviour and demonstrates Chaumet&rsquo;s willingness to adapt.

The turning of the tide also hints at a timely overhaul in creative direction particularly with Ehssan Moazen sweeping in as the head of the design studio. Bringing with him five years of experience at New York&rsquo;s Tiffany &amp; Co. in addition to giving an air of newness to the heritage house, Moazen has all the tools one would need to take on the challenge of modernising an institution with a deep-rooted identity and he is off to a great start&mdash;if Torsade de Chaumet is any indication.

A promising sign of things to come, the high jewellery collection sees Moazen giving the house&rsquo;s iconic bow-knots a new spin as he renders them undone and into featherlight diamond-studded ribbons. Each unique piece is infused with the illusion of movement as the designer, alongside Chaumet&rsquo;s veteran workshop director Beno&icirc;t Verhulle, apply the reverse- setting technique to illustrate the back of a ribbon that reveals itself at the slightest touch of the finger.

GIOVANNA BATTAGLIA ENGELBERT (SWAROVSKI)

No stranger to the luxury fashion game, Giovanna Battaglia Engelbert has spent over 20 years working with notable brands on their creative and sustainable transformation of products, imagery, retail, organisations and marketing campaigns. The effervescent trendsetter has even graced the atelier of Swarovski, where she&rsquo;s been given the artistic control of the brand&rsquo;s B2B division since 2016, before making history as its first-ever global creative director.

The appointment of the Milan-born prime mover ushers in a new era of crystal supremacy at the Austrian house. Setting the tone for a new and improved Swarovski, Engelbert has conceptualised Wonderlab&mdash;an imaginary crystal world where science and magic meet, and extra and elegance collide. This innovative take has manifested beyond product designs and into visual experiences, events and ingenious store concepts across the regions.

Just take any of the Instant Wonder stores as an example. Designed in partnership with Paris-based Villa Eugenie, the sensorial retail space is enhanced by vibrant colours and textures, metallic sculptures, and elements that work together to encourage self-expression. The candy-like dreamscape makes the perfect backdrop for Engelbert&rsquo;s jewellery creations such as those from Collection One, which explores the fundamental geometry of crystal and its potential as a material.
