TECHNICAL

The complex World Time ref 5330G-001, a standout from Patek Philippe’s Grand Exhibition in Tokyo last year, now joins the regular collection with a novel feature: a patented date display synchronised with local time across time zones. The watch is engineered with a complex mechanism designed to synchronise the date with local time as determined by the city indicated on the watch’s world time city disc.

This advanced feature, made possible by the new calibre 240HUC movement, leverages a patented central differential system with two concentric star-type gear wheels. These wheels are crucial for the automatic adjustment of the date when crossing the International Date Line or when the day changes at midnight. The technical innovation ensures that the date display remains accurate, regardless of time zone transitions, without any need for the user to manually set it. The watch also features a distinctive aesthetic with its blue-grey opaline dial decorated in a carbon motif, and a transparent date hand with a red lacquer tip to ensure legibility over the complex background.

SPORTY

The latest iteration of the Nautilus self-winding flyback chronograph ref 5980-60G-001 epitomises its status as a luxury sports watch with a new white gold version that combines sophisticated design and advanced functionality. The opaline blue-grey dial, set within a white gold case, is accentuated by an elegantly matching calfskin strap with a denim pattern and an additional strap in blue-grey composite material.

This model features a distinctive monocounter at 6 o’clock, showcasing concentric scales for the 60-minute and 12-hour counters, and a central chronograph hand that doubles as a running seconds indicator. The white gold applied hour markers are finished with a white luminescent coating, enhancing visibility and luxury appeal. The watch’s robust 40.5mm case, with a thickness of 12.2 mm and water resistance up to 30 metres, is complemented by a screw-down crown and a sapphire crystal case back, revealing the intricate calibre CH28520 C/522 movement within.
