Swarovski's Mother's Day campaign stars Chryseis Tan and daughter Arianna
For Mother’s Day this year, Swarovski casts Chryseis Tan and her daughter Arianna as their campaign stars.
Mother’s Day is just around the corner and like the many years before this, Swarovski continues to create the finest jewellery collections as perfect gifts for women everywhere.
And for 2023, the iconic brand looked no further than celebrated founder of LUMI (@mylumibeauty), a Malaysian homegrown beauty and lifestyle brand, and mother of two, Chryseis Tan (@chrystan_x), to be its preferred star for Mother’s Day.
Dressed in the Florere and Matrix collections, Chryseis celebrates another milestone with Swarovski, where she has her daughter join her for the campaign, marking Arianna’s first ever campaign shoot.
On both Chryseis and Arianna, we see the delicate floral petals from the Florere collection dancing with grace. This flower-themed collection utilises Swarovski’s outstanding craftsmanship where it allows the jewellery created to capture light and showcase delicate transparencies.
Chryseis also wear the classic pieces from the Matrix collection that highlights Swarovski’s DNA on creating fine jewellery using different stone cuts and colours. Versatile pieces that can be worn from day to night, Matrix has risen to be one of Swarovski’s timeless pieces for the strong, independent women.
And in celebration of this wonderful Mother’s Day campaign, we got the chance to sit down with Chryseis herself to talk about her first Swarovski campaign shoot, motherhood and LUMI.
This is the first campaign shoot for Arianna. How do you feel about this amazing project with Swarovski?
With Mother’s Day coming soon, a special occasion to celebrate the all the beautiful mothers out there, I was thrilled with this opportunity that made my days impressive and memorable by capturing the moment with Arianna.
From the collections you’ve worn for the campaign, which would be your go-to choice as a Mother’s Day gift?
I’d personally prefer the Florere collection, where the petals are made from large cut Swarovski crystals and decorated with Swarovski pave on the outer borders of each petal. It gives off a very delicate and feminie sense of style.
Do you remember your first encounter with Swarovski?
I remember when I was a teenager, I received a Swarovski necklace as a gift for the first time and it was very special to me! I’ve always been a fan of Swarovski’s crystal creations including the home decorations.
I love the way light shines into the crystals and it will always give me joy. It becomes a reminder to my love for fashion and a motivator to keep working towards my dreams.
As a successful and well-established entrepreneur, how would you define success and has that definition change after you entered motherhood?
Before becoming a mum, I always thought success was measured by professional accomplishments, wealth and business, but after I enter motherhood, I think it’s really about happiness and well-being of my family as a whole.
I want to set a good example to my children and show that I can pursue my passions, while contributing to the betterment of society. I also want to show them that success is also about building meaningful relationships, creating valuable moments with your loved ones and empowering others to reach their goals.
And how do you balance time between work, personal and family? What are your biggest challenges?
I believe that setting clear boundaries and priorities are keys to achieving balance. I make sure to carve out time to spend with my loved ones and self-care. I try to maintain a healthy work-life balance by setting realistic goals and delegating tasks when necessary.
Additionally, I believe in the importance of being present in the moment, whether it’s during work or personal time and being fully engaged in each aspect of my life as it unfolds, especially when I have both a newborn and a very active Arianna (laughs).
Ultimately, finding balance is an ongoing process and it requires self-awareness and the willingness to adapt as circumstances change.
You’ve found great success with LUMI, that has expanded from being a beauty line to a full-fledged lifestyle brand. So, what’s next for LUMI in 2023?
I’m very excited to share all the new products that LUMI will be launching in 2023! Some are already in the final stages of R&D and some are going to roll out very soon.
One key product launch I’m really looking forward to is our new sunscreen. Its lightweight, non-greasy formula is specially designed to protect your skin from harmful UV rays while providing flawless, matte finish. Not only will it shield you from the sun, it will also help to soothe and hydrate your skin.
What advice do you have for other mothers who want to start their own business?
Create a clear business plan, seek support from other entrepreneurs, prioritise on self-care, be flexible to balance family responsibilities and persevere through the challenges.
Success often comes from resilience and persistence. Ultimately, remember that success is a journey, not a destination.
Lastly, what do you look forward to the most for this coming Mother’s Day?
Mother’s Day to me is to celebrate and honour the hard work and love that my amazing mum and my fellow mum friends have put into their families every day of the year.
After becoming a mother myself, a lot of friends come to me to ask for gifting ideas for their mums but I really think it’s more about spending quality time with your loved ones and always be present.
Other than that, a Swarovski gift would be nice too (wink).
