A family affair at Provence for Longchamp Spring/Summer 2022
Nobody does it quite like the French when it comes to the art of living - just in time for Paris Fashion Week.
When it comes to the core values of a French brand, no one does it quite like Longchamp and this Spring/Summer 2022, Longchamp takes us to Provence for an intimate family affair - just in time for Paris Fashion Week.
Continuing its narration to celebrate everything French and the art of Parisian chic, Longchamp presents its Spring/Summer 2022 collection with an exclusive film presentation that brings its muses to the iconic southeastern region of France, where everyone gathers around an old oak table set with colourful earthenware and crisp linens in style to evoke the true French art de vivre.
To evoke the nonchalant elegance of Parisian chic and to amplify the je ne sais quoi attitude in Provençal sensibility, creative director Sophie Delafontaine puts the focus on the use of linen within the collection.
On the limelight is the new reiteration of the Le Pliage bag, which is now in the silhouette of a white linen tote bag with a vertical red and blue stripe, created in partnership with Charvet, purveyor of the finest French linen tea towels since 1866 (the two labels have also collaborated for the Filet Le Pliage shopping bags last season).
That aesthetic also made its way to the collection, where tea-towel stripes and checks are featured prominently on various silhouettes, from white poplin dresses to linen lounge pants and below-the-knee dresses.
And how can we talk about Provence without mentioning its delicate earthenwares, stunning floral embroideries and soft floral patterns of traditional counterpanes?
Each of these sneaked its way into the collection creating a refreshing palette that brings the sun, sea breeze and delightful conversations of Provence to light.
To liven up that bright spring and summer dreams, the more muted tones within the collection are offset by vibrant yellow, coral, green and blue, either in bold blocks or as prints to create a powerful splash of joy that puts a smile on our faces.
New silhouettes are also found within the bags department, where new straw baskets and bucket shapes are reimagined the Longchamp way.
Of course, we couldn't end without looking at the Longchamp Roseau, which is redefined once again as a bucket bag in supple grained leather and LGP jacquard canvas, as well as in motifs inspired by the ready-to-wear: the bud print, a floral tapestry pattern, and a blue and white cotton stripe.
