In Cergy, a northwest suburb of Paris, Louis Vuitton took over “The Red Gateway"—a modern, small-scale reimagination of The Garabit Viaduct that makes up one of 12 architectural feats on the Axe Majeur—for its Cruise 2022 show. For his Fall/Winter 2021 collection, Nicolas Ghesquière found inspiration in Piero Fornasetti's Greco-Roman cartoon artwork, showcasing the series of looks at the Louvre Museum in Paris. Now, the designer moves to a more modern artistic approach for both his creative focal point and runway setting.

In a sea of vibrant garments, plush dresses boast science-fiction sketches of planets and deserted futuristic landscapes. Several looks utilize galactical prints, favoring swirls of bright hues and holographic sheens, while others employ fabrics of sparkling silver that continue the theme of space-age fashion.

However, as the show changes locales to a raised platform of 12 towering columns—another piece of the Axe Majeur—looking out over the Oise river. Models weave between the concrete constructions in styles that look appropriate for Space Force generals or battleship commanders in Star Trek. Sharp shoulders are paired with V-shaped bodices featuring gold embroidery and cargo pants, lending a stern, militaristic air to the ensembles.

Throughout the collection, looks are punctuated by pointed calf-high boots, casual baseball caps, and chunky colored chain necklaces and purse straps.
