Dior reinvents its Spring/Summer 2023 show in Paris
Although the Dior Spring/Summer 2023 collection heavily reflects the past, Maria Grazia Chiuri gives her creations a twist for the women of today wear and feel invincible in.
Maria Grazia Chiuri has done it again. The creative director of Dior women’s line looked to the image of a map Paris from the Maison achieves, printed on a scarf and structured around the Avenue Montaigne.
From there, she took inspirations from her own path as an Italian in France and that of Catherine de Medici – an Italian who arrived at the French court in 1533 and remains a figure emblematic of the relationship between women and power.

“This collection pays homage to fashion as an art of invention, able to redefine the city of Paris over and over again, each and every time, allowing the multiple facets of its history to live on. Fashion as an urban concept, a showcase of clothes that colour the spaces of our time; the city as a backdrop for the material and immaterial imagination of fashion and beyond. The map as a means of staging a city, of expressing the cultural complexity of our era, celebrating the power of the women who navigate it daily,” stated in the press statement.
True enough, the shows presented classic corsets upgraded with geometric shape that held the torso nicely, silhouettes created from lace, embroidery, and other structured materials reminiscent of the hoop skirts worn, as well as raffia coats accentuated with pretty floral and bird motifs.
