Inside Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer 2024 show, inspired by hot-air balloons
Creative director Nicolas Ghesquière goes on full maximalist mode.
Nicolas Ghesquière transformed the enormous venue at 103 avenue des Champs-Élysées with balloon-like constructions hanging from the ceilings and draped sails inspired by hot air balloon which cast a warm orange glow across the show space for the Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer 2024 presentation.
Unlike in past seasons, when the creative director opted to pare things down, the collection showcased plenty of fuzzy (sometimes enlarged) houndstooth patterns, shimmering multi-layered accessories, statement-making footwear, such as its bow-adorned pointed pumps, and an array of handbags. Dark-coloured and monogrammed leather broad belts were worn low on flowy ruffled skirts, loose bomber jackets, and double-breasted coats. High-waisted, tiered bottoms, buttonless shirts, structured corsets, and oversized tops with voluminous sleeves were all given a retro feel by the contrasting prints and muted colours.
