Just when you thought you've seen it all, Longchamp is back again to surprise us with a fresh new take on the Longchamp Le Pliage bag.

Continuing its annual tradition of designer/artist collection, creative director Sophie Delafontaine reached out to celebrated Parisian graffiti artist André Saraiva to refresh the Le Pliage bag.

It was a collaboration that was destined to happen ever since Sophie's first encounter with André's iconic mascot Mr A on a door.

“Years ago, one of our first Paris showrooms was a rented space near Place de la Concorde. When we moved in, we discovered André had been there before us – because right there, on the back of a door, was Mr. A. You could say that was our first meeting. We eventually left the showroom, but we kept the door!”

And with that, André started working on infusing his creativity into the Le Pliage silhouettes. With just a few bold strokes of his pen, he painted four Le Pliage designs – all made in recycled nylon – with three variations of Mr. A and one of his companion, Mrs A, all equipped with his signature winky eye and toothy grin.

And with these bags come four unique colours – candy pink, sky blue, graphic black and Longchamp's signature green. As a bonus, there are also a series of silk scraves created as a stylish addition to decorate the bags.

Aside from the four core designs, two special requests were made. The first was one from André: a leather version of the Le Pliage travel bag, where he can use it as he traverse the globe. This version sports a natural calf leather finish that will acquire a beautiful patina over time – essentially a bag that gets better as the more you use it.

The second request is the biggest highlight of the collection – a limited edition version of the small Le Pliage bag in recycled polyester canvas, printed in pink and blue with Mr. A motifs, which will be customised directly by André.

Limited to only 200 pieces worldwide, each of this bag will be a unique one-of-a-kind masterpiece that will be invidually numbered.
