The Tiffany Lock is an icon in the making
Tiffany & Co. dips into its archives to create this new bangle with an audacious “No rules. All welcome.” spirit.
The American jeweller is on a creative winning streak in its transformation while retaining the underpinnings of a classic legacy. With the Tiffany T and Tiffany HardWear collections achieving coveted status, the debut of the Tiffany Lock marks the birth of yet another icon.
“Tiffany Lock is an elegant interpretation of an archival functional design. Defined by modern, clean lines and a breakthrough clasp mechanism, Tiffany Lock represents an exciting new pillar to our diamond and gold jewellery offering,” says Alexandre Arnault, Tiffany & Co. Executive Vice President, Product and Communication.
Indeed, Tiffany’s engagement with padlocks hailed from functional padlocks before the 1950s, and during the mid-century, it transitioned to an aesthetical embellishment of key rings, money clips, brooches and necklaces. The utility component continued to evolve in collections like Return to Tiffany® and Tiffany HardWear over the last 20 years.
Today, the Tiffany Lock exudes a distinctive, bold and contemporary persona in reinventing the House’s padlock emblem, bearing a message about how our bonds with others inform who we are. Besides looking understatedly gorgeous on any wrist, the four gender-neutral Tiffany Lock bracelet variants, available in 18k yellow, rose and white gold with or without diamonds, are synonymous with togetherness and inclusivity. The clasp featuring an innovative swivelling mechanism seamlessly locks and unlocks the bracelet, echoing the functionality of a padlock.
